Jean Caze, Haitian-American trumpeter, composer, and conch shell performer will take you on a journey to experience the vibrant fusion of jazz and Haitian rhythms with his dynamic six-piece band at Arts Garage this Friday. They will play original music from his “Kreyol Djazz Suite“, an album filled with soulful melodies, infectious grooves, and masterful improvisation and from his other works. Tickets are $55.50 and $65.50 (incl. fees here) https://artsgarage.org/event/jean-caze-presents/ Tonight Jean will be joined by Claudens Louis on saxes, Harold St. Louis on keyboard/piano, Marty Quinn on electric bass, Wesner St. Louis on congas and Harvel Nakundi on drums. Jean currently blows in Michael Bublé’s touring band, performing as a featured soloist to sold-out arenas all over the world. Jean has released two self-produced solo albums, “Miami Jazz Scene” and “Amédé” where he seamlessly combined his Haitian roots with his American Jazz education and upbringing.
Jean Caze has emerged as one of today’s most beautiful trumpet voices. Jean’s experience includes having performed with stellar legendary artists such as Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Al Jarreau, Roy Hargrove, Arturo Sandoval and George Duke to name a few. (he’s definitely older than he looks.) Jean studied at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Performance in 2004. That same year, Jean was the National Trumpet Jazz Competition winner. In 2006, Jean was awarded the Winner of the International Trumpet Guild Competition. In 2007, Jean continued with his music education and earned his Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from Florida International University (FIU). That year, Jean Caze won second place in the prestigious 2007 in the Thelonius Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition.
